Unit 14 Section 5: Database Segment Changes

This video describes the impacts of changing database segments. Existing application programs need not be affected by adding new segments. Existing programs can process without even being aware that new segments have been added as long as the existing programs continue to use unmodified PSBs that do not include the added segment type.

However, changing the segment layout, database hierarchic structure, or adding or removing data set groups usually requires application programs to be recompiled.
