This video introduces the topic of transaction reporting based on the SMF 120 subtype 9 record.
Troubleshoot WAS Transaction Issues
Each request that comes into WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is considered a transaction and can be reported down to the level of URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) name. These URI’s give you the names of specific resources or applications requested, and each individual request is logged. They can therefore be aggregated to the time intervals and infrastructure resources (cell/cluster/node/sever/transaction class) that make sense for you.
With a flexible combination of predefined reports, user defined reports, and drill downs, IntelliMagic Vision enables WebSphere transaction reporting to help you:
- Understand your application workload patterns by time of day, day of week, and more
- Track and trend workload volumes for capacity planning
- Verify workload balancing across systems/servers
- Compare different time intervals to assess the impact of planned or unplanned changes
- Isolate issues related to transaction rates or routing, down to the servant region
In this video you will see predefined reports for transaction rates by cell and by cluster, along with drill down capabilities for further granularity or more detailed information. It also introduces the overall look and feel, and just a few of the navigation capabilities of IntelliMagic Vision.
