Powered by IBM Hybrid Cloud, AI and edge computing technology, the Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS) is a crewless marine research vessel designed and developed through a partnership between ocean research non-profit ProMare and IBM. For the scientific community, autonomous vessels like MAS promise to travel further and reveal more about the ocean than ever before. For other industries such as commercial shipping, oil & gas, security and telecommunications, marine autonomy can improve safety at sea while increasing the scale and efficiency of data collection.
