Mainframe modernization

The demo shows you how to modernize by refactoring, enhancing, and extending mainframe applications in a secure hybrid cloud environment.

First, we will see the deployment of a secure IBM Cloud environment for industry standards through automation. IBM Cloud provides a predefined reference architecture known as Infrastructure as code for IBM Cloud for Financial Services. The deployed architecture is an isolated network from the public internet and can only be accessed through VPN connectivity or Direct Link.

Next, build and deploy Z custom image into IBM Cloud Wazi instance to create a Dev/Test environment.

After we have a hybrid cloud environment set up, creating a secure DevOps with CI/CD/CC is shown.

After deployment of the Dev/Test environment with custom image and DevOps on Mainframe applications to the Wazi instance you see

• Refactoring of Mainframe Application using Refactor Assistant
• Enhance the Mainframe Application using watsonx code assist for Z
• Extend the mainframe application functionality through APIs using z/OS Connect
