Everyone has a smartphone in their pocket, but Anyline wanted to make them even smarter. Specifically, it wanted to bridge the gap between error-prone manual character entry and still inaccurate digital recognition of analog characters. Anyline created a deep learning platform to train smartphones to read, using IBM Deep Learning as a Service running on IBM Cloud, an element of the IBM Watson Studio offering. Operating on the edge of the cloud, the Anyline solution uses the power of Watson AI to train the data and create a neural network on the smartphone itself. Smartphones then become lightning fast, and highly accurate, capturing character sequences from the analog video streams they record. Using the solution, users such as police departments can scan IDs and license plates up to 20 times faster than previously, and with much higher accuracy. Read more: https://ibm.co/3dkNSVj
“It’s really important to have a partner like IBM that’s first and foremost [in] cloud technology… At the end of the day, it can be used in any industry, in any country, in any region,” explains Andreas Greilhuber, Chief Operating Officer, Anyline.
