Unit 14 Section 2: Sequence Fields

The root segments of all database types, except for HDAM, require that a unique sequence field be defined. If no sequence field is defined for other (that is, non-root) segment types, IMS relies on the values in the RULES= parameter to determine where on a twin chain a segment being inserted is placed.
