Customers using Download Director to download PTFs from Fix Central, or software from IBM IBM Entitled Systems Support, sometimes have issues with Download Director not working. Usually, we find that they can get it to work again by making sure that they follow these three main steps:
- Make sure that IBM Java 8, 11, or 17 is installed. We recommend that customers install IBM Semeru Java.
- Install IcedTea-Web to get Java Web Start (javaws) technology that has been removed from Java distributions.
- Install the Download Director software.
