We
experience the benefits of classical computing every day. However, there are
challenges that today’s systems will never be able to solve. For problems
above a certain size and complexity, we don’t have enough computational power
on Earth to tackle them. To stand a chance at solving some of these problems,
we need a new kind of computing. We are entering a new cryptographic era with
the advent of quantum computers. The
exponential growth in scale available in this new kind of computing presents
great opportunity for research, however, if exploited with bad intentions
this capability also creates a threat to existing cryptographic algorithms
that enable cyber-security today. This session will talk about the impact
that Quantum Computing will have on today's classical cryptographic
algorithms.
