VMware and IBM: Strategic partners for the digital era

Our customers are looking for the next generation digital infrastructure. VMware and IBM are coming together to provide that ubiquitous infrastructure that allows them to move on their cloud journey.
The IBM and VMware partnership is a long standing one.
Having started with virtualization and infrastructure, it's really expanded
across the entire IBM portfolio. I have an opportunity to work across all
product lines, whether it's storage, compute, cloud, hardware infrastructure,
all the way to AI, ML, Watson Services, and not to miss out on GTS.
One of the biggest challenges for customers is really about managing the data. In this data intensive world, it's really about not only how you capture data, but how you replicate data where the work needs to be performed. Storage, whether it’s for transactional storage or for big data analysis, is critical.
IBM is a Technology Alliance Partner for VMware. What that entails really is that deep engineering relationship, where we actually work starting with product innovation at the heart of everything we do.
Particularly areas like storage. An area of storage we're working with the VVOL project, or SRM for site recovery, stretch clusters. How do we provide high availability solutions using IBM Storage products as well as software defined storage products.
The great opportunity to work with IBM is just the breadth and richness of the portfolio. In Storage in particular, you have everything from tape on one end, flash and NVMe, software defined storage. IBM covers the entire gamut, fully certified with VMware technology.
This deep engineering partnership and the breadth of portfolio is really for the benefit of our customers. Giving them the choice they need for the particular workload or particular situation.
So we're really excited to have IBM be a strategic partner in this area to deliver first class solutions for VMware.
